ABOUT ME
American Mezzo-Soprano, Maria Caughey is a versatile artist who is gaining renown in theaters and concerts halls not only for her rich, telling voice, musical sensitivity and expression but for her fearlessness as a performer. Ms. Caughey kicked off the 2024 season with the cover of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with San Diego Opera. In the 2023-2024 season, she was the Alto Soloist for Handel’s Messiah with the Mainly Mozart Orchestra, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with Escondido Choral Arts the Alto Soloist in Oratorio de Noël by Saint-Saëns with San Diego Festival Chorus. With San Diego Opera, she performed the role of Sorella Cercatrice II in Suor Angelica, as well as performing on various recitals and outreach, including a duet recital at the Anthenaeum in La Jolla, CA. Upcoming engagements include opera concerts with Opera a la carte in Carlsbad and Encinitas and as the Mezzo-Soprano soloist in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with Escondido Choral Arts.
